The speaker for the dead

The last chapter of "Enders game" is about life after the third invasion, Valentine had retired from Demosthenes and Ender could never return to earth he was too dangerous and nobody would let him rest. Peter had to much power, he already had half the council under his control their was a treaty named for Locke. All the thirds and fourths and fifths were going to the bugger colony worlds and Valentine wanted Ender to go with her, he would govern the first colony. Ender had won over their peoples love and respect. When Ender was asked to find new land for more new-comers he found a place to be what looked like the giants corpse from the fantasy game from battle school, he saw the monkey bars the swings. He realized the buggers had built this place for him, since they could not read or write they put these things here from his memory. He went to the place where the end of the world would of been, the mirror was waiting for him on the wall. Instead of breaking the mirror he remembered moving it, when he did he found a hollowed out place where the pupa of a queen bugger was placed. Ender saw what they saw like they were his memories he understood them. They did not mean to murder and when they realized they did they didn't return. He wanted to help them, to tell their story and maybe his people could forgive them as he did. Ender than wrote a book of all the good and evil the hive-queen knew and he signed it with the title speaker for the dead. Peter knew ender wrote the book and he wanted his brother to speak for him to, Peter told him about all his accomplishments and crimes when he died Ender wrote a second volume called Hegemon. Valentine and Ender went from world to world, her writing the stories of the living and Ender writing the storied of the dead. He carried with him the cocoon searching for a world where the queen bugger could rise and rule again.

-Mazer defeated the buggers in the second invasion by killing the queen which led to all of them dying

-all the kids that ender taught in battle school came to help him be commander

-during Enders final examination he defeated the buggers by cheating

- after the battle was over mazer told ender that his wasn't a game that he just won the third invasion, he beat the buggers.

-ender was worn-out and slept for weeks for all he knew when he woke up he found out their had been a war between the Russians and the I.F

In this chapter Ender and Graff arrived at Eros, their were many new ways of training ender. He learned well and quickly the teachers used what they called the simulator to train Ender to be the commander. Thre only person who could teach Ender how to defeat the buggers was Mazer Rackham. Mazer had been in space for fifty years, but for him only eight years passed, all for him to teach Ender. All of the students from battle school that Ender taught and fought against were waiting for him at command school to be his army. In the second invasion Mazer had only defeated the buggers because he killed their queen which killed them all. Enders last day at command school he had a final examination, he won this test by cheating just like the buggers cheated to win. After his battle he was told this wasn't a game he had just completed and won the third invasion, all the buggers were dead. On earth Ender was a hero many countries wanted him to run their armies, if not they wanted him dead. While Ender was resting from the battle a war had broke out between the Russians and the I.F. and with the help of Ender's squadron leaders.

Devoted, or disloyal.

"The way up to heaven" is a story full of suspense, which is introduced when Mrs. Foster decides to leave her husband at home stuck in their elevator so she wouldn't be late for her plane to Paris. Mrs. Foster doesn't like to be late for any kind of gathering or occasion and her husband knows about her problem, but insists on leaving right when their suppose to be their. Mr. Fosters actions irritate his wife, but she never gets him out of his study to hurry up, she knew better than that. The author describes that Mrs. Foster as a good loving wife to him, but in the end she ends up leaving him stranded in the elevator while she's on her six week vacation to Paris for a visit with her daughter and grandchildren. This story is an example of poetic justice, the police would never think of Mrs. Foster, loving house wife, to kill her own husband. So she gets away with murder, because of her nerves of being late.

Is it a mystery...? or is it suspense.?

I think this story is more of a mystery than a suspense, because the cops don't know what exactly happened to Ms. Maloney's husband, and since they ate the murder weapon they'll never find out. This story is an example of a dramatic irony, the readers know something that the characters in the story don't. In the beginning of the story Ms. Maloney seems like a loving housewife, who takes care of her husband. When Mr. Maloney comes home from work and refuses to eat supper or anything his wife asked him he confesses whats on his mind, and that was that he's divorcing her. She over reacted and hit him over the head with the lamb leg that was for dinner. Covering up her tracks Ms. Maloney puts the lamb into the oven and goes upstairs to clean up and go to the grocery store. When she calls the police after she gets back from shopping she acts like she doesnt know what happened and that she loved her husband. This shows that even though Ms. Maloney acted like the perfect house wife, she decieved her husband. The red herring is found in the very beginning of the story, when Ms. Maloney is made out to seem like a loving wife to her husband. This is an example of poetic justice because even tho she killed her husband she got away with it.

Its all about Courage.

1. Which poem appeals most to you and explain why. Consider what the poet says and how each poet expresses his/her viewpoint.

The poem that appeals most to me would be "if," Rudyard Kipling has displayed in a fantastic way how to be couragous and follow your dreams without changing who you are as a person. This poem is a guide line to being a better person, it shows us how it is for people to not let others infulence their decisions. The lines that caught my attention first were "If you can meet with Triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same;" these words caught my attention because today that kind of forgiveness is hard to find. Kiplings word choice is very powerful, but nessacary. "If" was written as a didactic poem, ment to give instructions to his readers to try and be the best person anyone can ask of you.

Ms. Brown..

When Christy was born Ms. Brown didn't notice anything wrong with him until he was at least five months old, and he couldn't sit up on his own. As a mother she was very worried for him as well as confused because all of her children are well and healthy she didn't understand what happened to Christy. When she started taking him to clinics, the doctors told her that he was a very difficult but interesting case. They also told her that their was nothing they could do for him, and he would remain crippled forever. Christy's mother is very patient in this way, even though she was told he wont get better she still had faith in him. She is, more than ever determined to prove that his body may be crippled but his mind isn't. The doctors thought Ms.Brown should send Christy to a institution, and that she shouldn't take him seriously because it would only hurt her more in the long run. Christy not being able to walk or anything made him very dependant on his mother, Ms. Brown always took good care of christy she let him go outside in the garden and everything else his brothers and sisters got to do. When she first started reading to Christy she would say the words and say " do you like it Chris?" even though every time he wouldn't answer her she still kept trying. Some of the time Ms.Brown would get frustrated when he wouldn't respond, but she never gave up on him. Through all of their hard times Ms. Brown stayed courageous, and she kept going. When she walked in the living room filled with people she loved and saw Christy with the chalk in his toes, she realized this was the beginning of his way into the world. Christy could go and learn more how to write and read, and he could tell everybody how the doctors labled him, and with his mothers love they both proved them wrong.

Assignment #2

1. I agree with the message in the poem, it tells of how to be a great person(man) without being dis-respectful. the most meaningful statement to me within the poem would be stanza two.
This is meaningful to me because i know what it feels like to be fooled, tricked, and it does take a good person to forgive somebody who was done you wrong. I believe Kipling's advice is useful today, because to many people change who they are for the wrong reasons.

2. I think Kipling used the term "man" because a man is pictured as strong, courageous, and leadership. I'm sure the term is used to explain all humans man and woman, i don't think Kipling would imply that these are only male traits. The terms that make it personal are"you'll be a man-you'll be my son!"This poem is definitely defines the requirements of any courageous person or leader.
